The issue of workplace burnout is something we’ve all read and sadly in most cases, experienced directly or indirectly through family and friends. And yet, despite numerous initiatives to reduce workplace stress and burnout, the problem continues to get worse.

Could it be that the reason why our efforts to address burnout are not working is because we’ve misidentified the root cause behind it?

This provocative and timely question is the basis of my conversation with guest Liane Davey in this episode of my “Leadership Biz Cafe” podcast.

Liane is an organizational psychologist, team effectiveness expert, a bestselling author, and fellow Canadian who first joined me on this show almost seven years ago.

I’ve invited her back so we can talk about her new book, “Thoughtload: Manage the Madness and Free Your Team to Do Great Work”.

Liane describes thoughtload as “the invisible tax on our performance” and how “managing thoughtload is something we all have to do.”

More importantly, Liane explains why we need to recognize that the process of resolving the growing levels of workplace anxiety and burnout is not a one-and-done solution, but an evolving practice that will help us to navigate these issues with greater clarity, intention, and care.

And over the course of this episode, Liane shares the various steps for how we can do exactly that.
